Dear Union/Federation management teams.

PLEASE DISTRIBUTE THIS IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT TO ALL YOUR MEMBERS:

In an attempt to revive some of the disciplines associated with the Pigeon Fancy in South Africa, SANPO Region N will be hosting a Pigeon Show on 9th April 2016 in Port Elizabeth.

We are already guaranteed 400 Racing Pigeons for show, however that is only from Port Elizabeth Fanciers, and in fact reach out to all Fanciers to participate in this event – correspondence will be sent out regarding this event in due course.

WE ALSO EXPECT AT LEAST 10 PIGEONS FROM EACH SANPO COUNCIL MEMBER TO BE SHOWED AND CHALLENGE ALL CLUBS TO MATCH OR BETTER THIS.

Our plan is to host this event either in the Feather Market Hal in Port Elizabeth or the Walmer Town Hall.

We will be combining the hosting of the Racing Pigeon show with the NFPA – the Fancy Pigeon Sector of SANPO and are hoping to have a combined number of pigeons in excess of 1500 – 2000 pigeons on show.

Already some Sponsors have been solicited for this event to make it more attractive to the Fancy.

I know most of us are more into racing than showing, however we cannot allow this part of the discipline to decline. Yes, April, the negative few will comment, is the wrong time of the year due to pigeons still being in the moult – however when judging, this is all taken into consideration and all contestants will be experiencing the same challenges re the moult.

The plan is to make this almost similar to a Pigeon Convention where Pet shops, Pigeon Product suppliers, Clock Manufacturers can advertise and sell their products, for the fanciers there will be lecturers by top Local and National Fanciers, Lecturers from Avian Vets will be available for all interested parties to attend – Doc Wim we will also be contacting you in this regard if OK with you, and would simply like to make a weekend of it.

All SANPO Fanciers welcome from all Regions to participate in this show and would be welcomed.

Activities such as Game Drives, Deep Sea trips for those that want to go fishing or game watching while their birds are being judged, if not attending the lectures, will also be on offer.

Beginners corner will be established for young and old alike.

Loft visits can be arranged.

With your attendance and effort lets make this event a success, and get the adrenalin flowing for the season that is upon us.

Help us make this a success.

This is an ideal opportunity to expose the Pigeon Sport to the Public in a positive light involving local community television and radio stations as well.

Lets go Big on this and make it an event to look forward to every year going forward.

Thanking you all for your anticipated participation in this planned event.

Yours in Sport
